HONESTLY
Open books
can't read
themselves.
Communication
is a two-way
street car.
Truth should
not be run off
the tracks.
Ride on!
WINDOW
can refer to time
or opportunity
or portal out
of this place
where hipsters
aren't hip
except maybe
to other hipsters
like means much
less then it did
and there are
too many lines
too few words
that ring true
that endure
DREAM DATE
You were the captain
of a fishing boat,
Lines and Hooks,
guiding your charters over
wrecks, bottom fishing or
you might have been a ship,
waiting for the tide to rise,
but I wake up.
The next night I dream
I am in the ocean on a vessel
it's cold, I try to warm by grabbing
live steam flowing through cast iron
pipes, the mate called heated handrails.
I see you, a blue fish,
then you are a shark,
you morph into a mermaid
swimming off into the moon light,
shimmering.
YOU MAY NOT HAVE SEEN MY TEXT BUT
We will soon
be out of
toilet paper
I just started
the last roll
your turn to
order groceries,
we need eggs
too
After “This Is Just To Say”
by William Carlos Williams
WHEN THIS IS OVER
I will continue to draw lines across all my sevens until the next pandemic and or apocalypse and not feel pretentious. If covid ends, I mean truly ends, I will seek out order and structure and rules and no longer write run-on sentences and start listing things to do, and then complete them, without anyone telling me. Maybe, i will wear a mask to warm my face or might don one to rob a bank, but never ever again wear a mask to go to the 7-11 to get corn chips, so i have change to catch the bus. After this ends I will try harder to determine what is real and what is important, to be more open to possibilities and to sing Carly Simon's “Clouds in my Coffee/You’re So Vain” out loud and not even care who it might have been about or who hears me sing.
