BUDDHA-NATURE
—Joseph Nolan, Stockton, CAA couple towns down
From the Temple of the
Great Buddha Statue-in-the-Round,
A younger brother lived.
That was the only place
He could be found,
Since he didn’t travel,
Anymore.
Every so often,
His relatives would go
Burn incense at the feet
Of the Great Buddha,
Say some prayers and mantras,
Ask for the fertility of their offspring
And pray for good health,
Prosperity and long lives.
They didn’t visit
Their little brother,
Though,
Because they did not
Know
His Buddha-nature
Or their
Own.
