Bringing in the Sheaves

—Poetry and Visuals by Jerome Berglund,
Minneapolis, MN

declination

      collapses
with blade protruding
      burying the lead

      can’t get good hold
on door knob
      greasy hands

      killer insinuates himself
into investigation
      police academy

      drink cart
crashes into cockpit
      going down

      tries to resuscitate
ribcage caves in
      bringing in the sheaves

      true north

      wigs and rouge
hide disease's progression
      potpourri masks foul stench

      displays pulsing heart
before rabble, flair for showmanship
      at the court

not full dark yet but there are explosions :: will be soon

      tall thin man
quite statuesque
      life models starving

      house proves cursed
but invested all they had in it
      nowhere else can go

               the sickly, penniless poet

without station or income, prospects
to his paramour
through dingy view from squat
feels compelled to comment
upon the neighbors’ yacht

gaolers and justices of the peace
could not rob her of slender waistline
or glamorous elegance
gasped last in ribbons
silver as a tetradrachm
regal like Artemis with her bow
to collective sigh of relief
as murines peeked out
from their burrows

wandering pole

copycat crimes blank carbon paper

      taming of
the humdinger
      walk-in closets

      drives
a hard bargain
      biblical relations

      forgiveness offered
for sins absolved
      paramedics arrive too late

      love is loss
washing and dressing
      the body

Today’s LittleNip:

                  sometimes a missing piece

which fell down a crack
under the couch
when slid over
fit into its proper place
as connective tissue
the overall picture that
suddenly comes together
will greatly surprise you
