That Unending Need . . .

—Anonymous

EXISTENTIALIST PACK-RAT
—Joseph Nolan, Stockton, CA

You might think
You had
Something to lose
If you let
This go:

A core from
The heart of
An apple,

The unspent seed
You did not sow,

The beautiful girl
You didn’t
Whirl
Out on
The dance-floor,

Your unending need
For more and more.
What is it all for?

Have you never
Had enough
Of all the stuff
You’ve dragged
Back home,
Whatever caught
Your eye,

As if the
World
Were a photograph
You snapped
For your photo-album
In the archives
Of your home?
