top suite at the roosevelt avenue subway stop
as
the commuters
swear and stomp
and spit
walking past him
heading toward their hell
the man
sleeping on the subway steps
yawns
spreads his arms wide
then turns over
like he’s sleeping
at the st. regis
or the times square marriott.

saturday, walking
in the freezing rain
my heart
is shattered
as the tears fall
to the cracked pavement
i think
only art
knows my truth
and how even that’s
a goddamned lie.
spider
today
i didn’t kill a spider
instead
i put it in a plastic cup
and set it free outside
so that tonight
at the bar
i can buy
all of my drinks
with good karma.
Street Toilet
capitalist poem 3
the shithouse sighs
of crazed men
who lock themselves
inside of public restrooms
for their own lunatic eternities
remember that america has failed them
and don’t think
for a second
that it won’t fail you too.
nirvana
to not be able
to remember the tragedy of birth
to not be concerned or afraid
of the comedy of death
and to blissfully be able to ignore
all of the bullshit
they put us through
in between.

Cities, like dreams, are made of desires and fears, even if the thread of their discourse is secret, their rules are absurd, their perspectives deceitful, and everything conceals something else.
