Wax On...
SUNDAY MORNING REFLECTION
—Trina L. Drotar, Sacramento
A grasshopper poised on the rim of a gold-painted plaster
bowl on the bathroom sink stared and thought thoughts
I could only imagine. Perhaps he wanted to spit
his tobacco juice or perhaps he wanted to go outside
where there might be more of his kind. I don’t know,
but he sat poised. Ready to jump or hop, perhaps
waiting for the centipede who’d earlier taken his leave
from the space he’d occupied on the bathroom wall,
not two feet above the plaster bowl.
