Same Sky

SAME SKY
—dawn dibartolo, sacramento

morning reaches from
the earth in deep
mahogany blood-tones;

noon is
oceanic denim
with a daffodil sun;

and the lattice of night
is a web of indigo
purloining an opal moon.

in this, the God of believers
reigns over both
the faithful & the skeptic,
because Love is…

wide as all the sky
~ identically, His gift.

blackout
—dawn dibartolo

no light
but gray sky…

back glow...
we are figurines

trapped in
a snow-globe home.

it’s the rain that slants
~ horizontally

speaking, we are
linearly connected,

having together cut thru
the darkness…

we are flash ~
light beams, fractured

into flakes of
slow-drifting time.

in this non-
electric phase
of being,

we write, we play,
we cast shadow

puppets on the ceiling;
no shortage

of talk, our tongues
are a source of illumination.
