Palm in Rain

Blank picture canvases were hung up at Arcade Church in Sacramento
meant to be filled up with one word or phrase in response to "God is..."
Among inked and crayon responses, such praises as "love, friend, kind, Savior",
someone wrote in black bold capital letters:
"GODISNOWHERE"
Indeed no matter which of two ways read,
whether it's God is now here, or God is nowhere,
it seems to say there is no in-between point for the Almighty—

Indeed no matter which of two ways read,

No room for the agnostic
or for those who may believe God is watching us from a distance
It also reflects one's human condition:
Depends on whether one believes the Lord is now here
—that He knows the hearts and minds of those who invite Him in
and even suffers along with them—
Or else if one rejects altogether the notion of the Great Being,
then perhaps in that case he is nowhere, not present there at all...
