So Which Is It?

Palm in Rain

‪Blank picture canvases were hung up at Arcade Church in Sacramento‬
‪meant to be filled up with one word or phrase in response to "God is..."‬
‪Among inked and crayon responses, such praises as "love, friend, kind, Savior"‬,
‪someone wrote in black bold capital letters:‬
‪"GODISNOWHERE"‬
‪Indeed no matter which of two ways read, ‬
‪whether it's God is now here, or God is nowhere, ‬
‪it seems to say there is no in-between point for the Almighty—
‪No room for the agnostic‬
‪or for those who may believe God is watching us from a distance‬
‪It also reflects one's human condition: ‬
‪Depends on whether one believes the Lord is now here ‬
‪—that He knows the hearts and minds of those who invite Him in‬
‪and even suffers along with them— ‬
‪Or else if one rejects altogether the notion of the Great Being, ‬
‪then perhaps in that case he is nowhere, not present there at all... ‬
